Are you ready to take the challenge of becoming a PADI Instructor?
"I dont think I`m ready" : "I dont have enough dives" : "My theory is weak" : "I`m not sure my skills are good enough"
These are things we hear all the time,
but if you are reading this then you`ve probably already meet the prerequisites to become a PADI Instructor and you are already a PADI Divemaster.
This means your skills and knowledge have been assessed to professional level and you might just need to revise
and sharpen up some areas where required before attending your IDC.

Skills |
To complete the IDC you will need to have excellent dive skills. There are no new skills to learn, every skill you will be asked to perform is something you will have already covered during your training to this point. You will need to make sure your skills are good enough that they can be performed at demonstration level, if there is anything you are not comfortable with then practice is all it takes. Watch the PADI Skills Videos to help, they can be found on YouTube, then get in the pool and practice. Work with an experienced Instructor or Video yourself to check on how good the skills look. Dont wait until you get to the IDC to find you are rusty on something.

Theory |
Having expert dive theory is essential to becoming a successful PADI Instructor. You have accumulated much of this during your dive career so far but do not be complacent with it, study a little bit everyday, here is some ways to help
PADI eLearning - There is a Dive Theory section that will guide you through the knowledge required to be a PADI Instructor Diving Knowledge Workbook - You will receive this in your IDC pack and works with the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving (found in your Divemaster Pack) and as with the PADI eTheory covers all you need to know. Knowledge Reviews and Exams - Go through all the knowledge reviews and exams in the PADI Open Water, PADI Advanced Open Water (definitely the Altitude, Deep and Search and Recovery sections), PADI Rescue Diver and PADI DIvemaster Manuals. Use the Revision Questions found on this site. |
PADI IDC eLearning |
The new IDC course comes with eLearning, this means some of the course is completed online before attending. This will be sent to you when you enroll, give your self plenty of time, do one section a day so you don`t have too much to take in, ensure all the sections are completed before attending the IDC.

PADI System |
The PADI system is the foundation on which a PADI Instructor operates, being familiar with it is critical to your success
PADI Instructor Manual - Contains all the standards for the core courses and programs. Get to know your way around and how to find information out. PADI Guide to Teaching - This manual gives great guidance on how to run courses as well as tips for demonstration and setting up the skills for the core courses, it also contains forms and information required for the IDC. Specialty Instructor Guides - As the title suggests these are individual guides for each specialty course, you will receive the necessary ones for the IDC in your IDC pack. Check through them and become familiar with the layout. |
Materials |
Having a full set of personal materials is a requirement of the IDC by PADI standards. A list will be sent to you prior to attending, make sure you have everything required. Let us know if you have anything missing as we have all items in stock.
|
Equipment |
As with the materials you need to have a full set of dive kit, again a list will be sent to you, make sure it has been serviced and is in good condition and looks professional.
|
Plan your study time |
Once you have enrolled in our IDC, our Course Director will send you a personalised training plan (based on when you book and how many weeks until the IDC start date. Follow this as best you can. Putting studying off until just before the IDC could mean that you dont complete everything in time and are unsuccessful.
